Peer Support Specialist
Aspire Family Wellness is hiring a Peer Support Specialist in the Huntington area. The position is for a full time position. Job Requirements:- High School Diploma or GED; college degree preferred
- Direct experience in substance abuse field through personal life experiences,
- instruction/internship or similar practicum through education or certification process
- Peer Support Specialist Certification required
$18 per hour + SIGNING BONUS
State Licensed PRSS through WVCBAPP with at least 1 year of experience. The appropriate candiate will provide recovery coach services at multiple levels of care. This includes, supportive housing, detox programs, residential treatment programs, and outpatient.

Job Description:
The duties and responsibilities of the Peer Recovery Specialist include:
- Facilitate recovery oriented group and individual supportive intervention services with students and community members ( as approved by direct supervisor);
- Conduct outreach visits to an assigned area;
- Provide outreach and early intervention to individuals in the pre-contemplation and contemplation stages of change as well as those experiencing symptoms of a recurrence of symptoms;
- Plan, Promote & Host training events and informational sessions related to the recovery program;
- Denver remarks and speak to the public to combat stigma;
- Assist individuals in crisis situations involving social, emotional, health and other problems
- Work on college campuses and with faculty, staff and administration to develop support for students;
- Unlc students with support groups, treatment programs and other community resources;
- Build and maintain partnerships across campus and communities;
- Act as an liaison between students, campuses, communities and service organizations;
- Report to the supervisor and project coordinator.
- Assist with the implementation of project activities to ensure that the program goals, objectives, activities are met at specified stages in timeline;
- Participate in trainings and the certification process; Adhere to the code of ethics for PRSS at all times:
- Participate in weekly conference calls to report on progress:
- Collect assessments and develop recovery treatment plans;
- Collect and submit required data, prepare written reports and other administrative tasks as required;
- Assist individuals served with setting goals, creating and monitoring individualized change/recovery plans and working toward developing skills to attain and sustain recovery;
- Complete reports, paperwork and time sheets:
- Gain a working knowledge of center policies, procedures and regulations and the center’s service delivery model;
- Represent the school and the network in a positive manner Including maintaining a positive attitude and performing duties in a manner in accordance with the higher education institution’s missions, codes of conduct and ethical practices.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

Position Purpose: The primary responsibility of the Peer Recover Support Specialist will be a position that maintains an environment that is safe, comfortable, and secure for our residents daily. This person must have the State Peer Recovery Support Specialist Certification.
Principal Responsibilities:- Maintain inventory of all household supplies (cleaning supplies, paper products, cooking utensils, furniture, etc.). When low on any supplies or if anything gets broken notify the Administrative Assistant.
- Prepare bedrooms for new residents entering home (clean linens, dresser drawers, bedroom cleanliness, etc.).
- Facilitate house meetings, community meetings and occasional social and recreational outings/activities.
- Assist in monitoring property to protect from damage and/or theft.
- Conduct urinalyses drug screens as required by house rules.
- Attend the weekly staff meetings with Operations Director to discuss any issues.
- Participate in mandatory, ongoing health and safety, peer mentoring, or recovery residence training as required.
- Provide referral resources to residents when requested or needed (discharges).
- Assign household chores to residents and monitor to ensure that the chores are completed.
- Review program and house rules with all new residents.
- Explain in detail all homework assignments to new residents.
- Monitor the resident’s rooms for cleanliness.
- Ensure that residents are properly respecting and maintaining common areas (esp. kitchen, living room, bathrooms, etc.)
- Monitor that the residents are following house rules. Hold residents accountable for following house rules by applying life lessons.
- Conduct resident orientations, including reviewing safety drills and locations of fire extinguishers, emergency evacuation diagram, exit routes, evacuation procedures, and access to first-aid kits.
- Monitoring proper use and functioning of appliances and other household equipment.
- Observe and report to lead staff person any unusual activities that may pose a safety or nuisance issue for other residents or neighbors.
- Share recovery experiences.
- Encourage the resident’s participation in recovery activities.
- Demonstrate appropriate recovery living skills for others to emulate.
- Work one on one with residents on their recovery.
- Must report any suspicious activity concerning any resident to the lead staff person.
- If working part-time they must write Therapy Notes of not less than 20 hours per work week. If working full-time they must write Therapy Notes of not less than 39 hours per work week.
